Water is the life blood of the landscape and proper irrigation system maintenance is critical to tree health. Pictured is a drip emitter that is touching the trunk of an Arbutus unedo (Strawberry tree). The emitter should be moved away from the trunk to avoid creating a favorable environment for disease causing organisms. As the tree grows the emitter positioning should be adjusted accordingly. Also, keep an eye out for clogged drip emitters. Clogged emitters can go unnoticed unless your checking them on a regular basis. Often, by the time you catch the problem your plant has already dried up and hit permanent wilting point (PWP). If you need help adjusting your irrigation system, replacing clogged emitters, cleaning out lines, adjusting heads- we can help.
