Landscaping in Monterey

This permitted landscape project located in the city of Monterey consisted of a timbertech deck walkover, quartzite stone stairs with stairs walls, pressure treated wood retaining walls, a french drain system, landscape lights, a new irrigation system and fresh plantings.

One of the goals for this landscape project located in Monterey was to deal with the moisture and mold issue occurring in the basement. The grade of the property was allowing water to run down hill and collect under the basement.

Our goal was to redirect this water away from the foundation.

To do so, we installed a series of French drain systems and a sump pump to catch and redirect water away from the house and into a dispersion pit.

We also terraced the slope by building retaining walls out of pressure treated wood. Each wall has a French drain on the upper hill side of the wall that allows multiple levels of defense moving down the grade.

Once the drainage issue was resolved we finished the project with plantings, a new drip irrigation system and accent landscape lights.
